Hooks & Toggles is proud to bring you handcrafted, one-of-a-kind artisan beaded jewelry. Each and every piece is as unique as the person who wears owns it.
My name is Dina, and I am the designer and proud owner of Hooks & Toggles. I named my company after one simple concept - using only hook and toggle as clasps for my jewelry pieces. I carry this idea of simple elegance through every piece I design and create, from necklace to bracelets to earrings. My pieces are elegant yet easy to wear; no worrying about working a spring ring clasp or lobster claw clasp when trying to put jewelry on. As a designer and a wearer of jewelry, all I want you to have to worry about is choosing what to wear with the jewelry.
All beaded jewelry on this site are handmade with real, natural genuine gemstones, unless otherwise stated. It is my passion for gemstones and unique minerals that led me into the wonderful world of designing and making beaded jewelry. Sometimes, an idea for a piece I create comes in the form of a picture in my mind or a dream I've had or even from a challenge. Other times, all it takes is the look of a beautiful strand of rich Ruby or the cinnamon gleam of Hessonite Garnet or the mysterious sheen of Blue Tiger Eye to bring a design to life. I see the sunshiny yellow of Citrine or the majestic purple of Amethyst or the soft pink of Rose Quartz or the watery blue of Aquamarine or any other of the countless gemstones found in nature and I want to make something with them. Other times it is the shape of the stone which catches my fancy. On occasion, I have even found myself incorporating handmade beauties such as a Dichroic or fused glass pendants as focal points within my work. But no matter how the initial creative spark that drives my jewelry comes into being, my primary focus has always been, and will always be, creating something truly beautiful.
As a designer, my metal of choice is sterling silver and is used throughout my pieces. Sterling silver is silver with .925 silver content. I also enjoy using Bali, Thai, and Hill Tribe Silver including Karen Hill Tribe pendants and beads. I believe they add a unique dimension and texture to my pieces and are used widely throughout my beaded jewelry. Hill Tribe/Thai Silver uses .950 and higher silver content in their handmade pieces. On occasion, I will use vermeil silver and 18k and 22k gold when it fits within the piece.
